Children’s Liturgy

Childrens-liturgyThe Children’s Liturgy takes place in our churches during the school term time for all children from Primary 1 onwards. At the beginning of Mass they process out of the church for their own service where they will  listen to and reflect on the Sunday readings at a level appropriate to their understanding.  They may also do some craft activity or colouring if relevant to the readings of the day. The children will re-join the congregation following the Offertory Procession and return to their parents for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. All children are encouraged to take part. Parents may accompany their children if they wish.

Infants and Toddlers:

  • St John the Baptist – There is a small space allocated in the confessional room where parents can take very small children during Mass.
  • St Kentigern’s Church – Parents of babies and very small children may wish to join families with children of the same age in the side chapel.

These areas give more soundproofing and allow toddlers the freedom to move about, making it a more relaxed Mass experience for the parents. Age-appropriate books and activities are available in the confessional room and the side chapel.
